Dog Parks Reopen in Boise: Things You Should Know

Boise has been progressing through a three-stage plan to slowly and safely open back up businesses and facilities. As we move into stage three, here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to parks reopening and keeping you and your pup safe.

The Details of Stage Three

Stage one went on from May 1st – May 15th. And Stage two recently wrapped up as it went on from May 16th – May 29th. Each stage makes gradual steps towards more openings and opportunities for those in the state of Idaho. In a careful balance to reopen the community while also placing a high importance on public health, there have been guidelines set for individuals and employers at every stage. On May 30th, Stage Three was put into place, and here’s what that means for you, as well as what you can do with Fido.

General Advances of Stage Three

• Gatherings, both public and private, of 10-50 people may take place. Only as long as appropriate physical distancing and precautionary measures are observed.
• Non-essential travel may resume.
• With appropriate protocol observed, bars can now open.

What Exactly Does This Mean for Pet Owners?

As pet parents, here are some of the most important new progressions in Stage Three that will apply most to how you can spend your time with your furry friend.

Park & Recreation Specific Advances of Stage Three

• Restrooms at trailheads and in the City of Boise parks are now open for public use.
• Fenced Dog Parks in the City of Bouse that are now open. Those parks include: Together Treasure Valley Dog Island, the Military Reserve Dog Park, Morris Hill Dog Park, Mariposa Park Dog Park, and Pine Grove Dog Park.
• Ponds at Quinn’s and Esther Simplot Park are now open for swimming, fishing, or paddling.
• Walks and bike rides are now aloud on the Greenbelt.
• Parks and trailheads in the Boise Foothills have reopened. As long as a social distancing of at least six feet away is observed.

After evaluation, if no significant increase in cases occurs within the term of this stage (May 30th – June 12th), then Stage Four will be put into place on June 13th.
