Does the idea of a New Years Eve out on the town stress you out? Would you rather just stay at home with your pup and maybe some friends? Then you’re not alone! There are so many options to choose from for an awesome night in with your best furry friend. Instead of spending a ton of money out and worrying about plans, try one of our NYE plans with your dog! Here are some of our favorite ideas of how to ring in the New Year with your favorite pal.
Maybe you still want to have some of your close friends over to socialize. Instead of having an extravagant party, invite some friends (and their dogs of course!) over for a NYE party. Your dogs can play together and enjoy the company while you celebrate the New Year with your own friends! No need to worry about decorations or dress code. Ask every guest to bring a dish and have a more low key night with your four legged friends.
We’re always wanting to teach our dogs new tricks, but sometimes we just can’t section off the time to do so. New Years Eve is the perfect time to try teaching something new! With a whole night at home, what else are you going to do? A night in with your pup is a great time to try a harder trick and keep practicing it over and over until it’s perfect.
The weather in December/January in your area may not allow you to go play outside. Instead of just skipping your dog’s exercise on NYE, consider setting up a special course inside your house for the night. You don’t have to do anything super complex. Just use whatever items you have around the house and consider grabbing a few things from the local pet store to complete your course. Use a spare bedroom or push furniture out of the way to make sure you have enough room for your dog to move around.
With the New Year approaching, you’ll definitely need a new calendar. Who better to be the star than your favorite furry friend? Decide a theme for every month and go from there. Whether you want to use photos you already have or take a bunch on NYE, there are so many options. Many websites will print them for you and bind them. Make sure you reward your dog with treats for participating!
Speaking of treats… there are literally hundreds of DIY dog treats all over the internet. Find a few you like, head to store to get the ingredients, and then spend the evening cooking them with your pup! Whether you do more simple recipes or really challenge yourself, your dog will obviously love them without fail. You can save/freeze whatever is leftover for the rest of January.
No matter what you do on NYE, your dog will love spending the evening with you! Not only will they be happy having a fun time with you, but you’ll also have a stress free night with your pup. Happy New Years!
